Ruby Shemaria, a young girl with Cerebral Palsy from San Rafael who uses a power chair to get around, was ten years old before she played a sport. That was when she and her family found Power Soccer at Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP). From her first day on the court, Ruby's eyes lit up. She couldn't wait to play and she wanted to go fast. Just a few weeks after joining the team, Ruby told her teacher that she wanted to grow up to be greatest Power Soccer player in the world.
Through BORP's Power Soccer Program, hundreds of power chair users like Ruby have discovered a love for sports and a passion for soccer. Power soccer players also reap the benefits of participating in a team sport and connect with an incredible community of other athletes who often seem more like family than teammates.
You can help support this life-changing program and reach BORP's growing community of athletes and their families by donating today. Your generosity will make a huge difference to our players who would not have the opportunity to participate in sports without BORP.
The 15th Annual BORP Poker Fundraiser will be on February 24, 2018. To buy tickets to attend, click here.
All donations are 100% tax deductible.
